The Right Way to Breathe

Having been a Breath Coach and Trainer for over 30 years, I have been researching “The Right Way to Breathe”.

Of course, there are many ways to breathe and many intentions to use breathwork and they always produce results, because breathing is so powerful.

The intention with Natural Breathing is to recognize our True Self, which includes connecting with well-being, fulfillment, happiness and abundance. This journey, also automatically reverses any conscious mis-learning and uproot any sub-conscious material.

What is the Right Way to Breathe to access the full power of the breath?
There are many theories and explanations, but it seems to me that they are based on that we are created with a faulty Breathing System that the mind can fix, so it can do a better job.

How do we know what is true Natural Breathing?
Watching how we actually breathe, when we ‘stop holding our breath’ and ‘get out of the way’, might give us a clue. This happens when we sigh, yawn, sneeze, have emotions, laugh, jog, fall asleep, etc. THE BREATHING CHANGES BY ITSELF to NATURAL BREATHING.

It stands to reason, that these changes in the way we breath, when we get off guard, indicates what our breathing really wants to do, when it is not controlled, but set free.

The Breathing Control System

Sub-ventilating is intended as a protection.

This Control System is the body’s attempt to homeostasis – the way to make sure we stay the same, because (the Breathing Control System reasons) this sameness is keeping us alive and any change ‘could’ endanger our life

But, in fact, this Breathing Control System is slowly killing us, because it leaves us with a minimum of oxygen, which is a growing ground for many dis-eases and it also leaves us tired, lazy and a lack of passion.

The way the BREATHING CONTROL SYSTEM works is to make sure that the amount of Source Energy – Life-force you add through inhaling and awareness will never exceed the amount of energy you use up.

The Breathing Control System monitors:
• How much energy we “use up” (by physical and mental movement) and then “ALLOWS” us to take in an equal amount.
• How much energy we “take in” (through breathing and awareness) and then ‘FORCES’ us to “use up” an equal amount.

When you relax, like meditating or getting relaxing bodywork, your breathing slows down. If you exert yourself, like jogging or thinking a lot, your breathing speeds up.

Once you realize the benefits of breaking the Breathing Control System, you will intend to RETAIN more energy than you use up. That is what is happening with some meditation systems. It is also what happens when you do Natural Breathing.

If you break the Breathing Control System, you will retain more energy than you use up, and end up with an EXCESS of energy and that energy must go somewhere.

This retained excess energy will go to blocked places in your body and your mind and enliven those areas. It will go to and remove blocks in your “energy body” and uproot any sub-conscious blocks – leaving you more healthy and alive.

Your job is to BREAK the Breathing Control System and retain more “Source Energy”.

There are 2 ways to do that:
• You take in more Source Energy by being more aware and breathing more than you are inclined to.
• You use up less energy by moving and thinking less than you are inclined to.

Sometimes we make the Breathing Control System confused and get OFF GUARD. Then, Natural Breathing kicks in and we sigh, yawn, laugh, be emotional, exert ourselves and fall asleep.

The 5 Breathing Basics

Sometimes the Breathing Control System gets OFF GUARD and Natural Breathing kicks in and naturally changes your breathing, noticed when you sigh, yawn, sneeze, laugh, be emotional, exert yourself and fall asleep.

Taking a look at these times, when the breathing changes by itself, I have found 5 basic characteristics, that when all are used together produces profound results.

Natural Breathing INCLUDES ALL these 5 Characteristics at the same time. Normally, when you nibble at Natural Breathing you only do 1 or more of these 5 Breathing Basics, but not all together. When you do all these Characteristics together you’ll RETAIN more Life-force in your body, than you usually have. This uproots any disabling holding and raise your Success Tolerance on every level.

Natural Breathing, starts off using the 5 Breathing Basics as a ‘jump-start’ that leads to naturally manifesting them, like using the starter to get your engine going.

———————————————–

The 1st BREATHING BASIC
– CHOOSING AWARENESS

Awareness means to have a sensation or experience of BEING, here and now.

  • Awareness is not an idea, thought, try or observation. You are aware when you are conscious of your sensation of your breathing, what is happening in your body, how you feel, and your Being.
  • Without awareness you don’t experience existing, and thus would not know whether you are successful or not.

———————————————–

The 2nd BREATHING BASIC
– BREATHE WITH YOUR CHEST

  • Your lungs are what you breathe with, and they are located in your chest. “Hint” That could be an indication that you are supposed to breathe with and in to your chest.
  • Natural Breathing always starts by inflating your chest, and then gradually spreads to and inflate the rest of your whole body.
  • Your rib-cage is built to change size as evidenced by the chest being constructed by ribs and space between the ribs and not like an armored protective shield, that could protect your most important organs. There are also muscles between your ribs. What purpose do they have? So, it seems that when your lungs inflate and deflate your rib-cage is built to move.
  • You lift your Rib-cage by using your Intercostals – the muscles between and behind your ribs. They are here to lift your rib-cage up and pull air into your lungs, as well as to activate your Feeling Self – your Heart-Chakra. This happens naturally when you sigh, yawn, exert yourself and are emotional.
  • Starting your inhale with your diaphragm doesn’t happen naturally, when you yawn, exert yourself or have an emotion. Breathing starting with your diaphragm can only be activated through your thinking, manipulating your breathing.
  • When you yawn or sigh, fall asleep, laugh, are emotional or jog, you notice that your chest is actually expanding and collapsing with the breathing – not the belly. You cannot really laugh with your belly. You can’t breathe with your belly or diaphragm when you jog and you won’t have an emotion without your chest moving.
  • Sometimes when you are learning Natural Breathing, you may feel that it is a struggle to breathe into your chest or that it is uncomfortable. That is because you have consciously or unconsciously avoided using your chest muscles and they have become weak. It may take a little bit of conscious breathing to allow your Natural Breathing again and get your chest active and flexible.

The 3rd BREATHING BASIC
– BREATHE FULLY

  • Filling your lungs fully, provides all the benefits of oxygenating the body and moving in life with much passion, excitement and charisma.
  • Your lungs are the largest organs in your body and you have two of them. They can grant a substantial amount of air influx and expand a lot when you take a deep breath. Why can they do that, if you weren’t supposed to use them fully?
  • Your “normal” breathing quality is set so low that you don’t retain any energy and thus you barely survive on your sub-ventilation.
  • When you yawn, laugh, have an emotion and jog, you are naturally breathing deeper than usual, which is an indication that when you stop controlling your inhale, your Natural Breathing shows you what its preferred inhale volume capacity.
  • Because of the low breathing set point, to practice Natural Breathing you need to INHALE MORE THAN YOU ARE INCLINED TO.
  • You know how much you should inhale in a Natural Breathing session by observing how much you inhale during a good yawn.

———————————————–

The 4th BREATHING BASIC
– BREATHE CONTINUOUSLY

  • Breathing Continuously means that you connect your inhale and exhale in a continuous manner, without leaving any gaps between your inhale and exhale and from your exhale to inhale.
  • Conscious Connected Breathing happens naturally when you fall asleep and when you are jogging.
  • You have mis-learned from movies, etc. that when someone breathes continuously they are distressed and, so you have taken on the mis-belief that there is something wrong with you if you breathe like that and you should avoid such breathing.
  • A PASSIONATE CONTINUOUS RHYTHM happens when you are excited or when you exert yourselves, like when you jog.
  • A GOOD TEMPO happens when you are eager and excited.

———————————————–

The 5th BREATHING BASIC
– SURRENDER

  • Surrender means to not use up the Life-force that you breathe in, so that you can retain more Life-force than you usually have. This will open you up to more health, happiness and success.
  • The ways you use up Source Energy are through:
  • Holding or pushing your Exhale.
  • Physically tensing up or moving your body.
  • Mental activity, like worrying about if you are breathing right.

* Caution – Do not do these 5 Breathing Basics on your own without first having been guided personally by a Natural Breathing Coach or trainer.
